My Birthday And A Little Blue Table

Today is my birthday and what have I been doing to celebrate?  I've been building and painting of course, two of my favorite things!  I've had so many birthday surprises it's been hard for me to get things done but I managed to finish a little table I painted in Annie Sloan Rococo, which is a mix of Duck Egg Blue and Old White and quite possibly my new favorite color!

This color is absolutely the perfect color to get you in the mood for Spring and Easter.  I just love it!

And look at this sweet little knob I found at Hobby Lobby.  The hardware is always just the icing on the cake for my pieces.  It's like the jewelry of the piece.
Once again, I used stairway balusters I cut down for the legs.

That's all I have for now.  I hope you all have a great day!

A Little White Table

I'm still on vacation but taking a break from skiing today.  I want to share one of my latest projects with you.  I built this little white table using scrap wood, moulding and railing balusters for the legs.  I have so much fun building these little tables because each one is unique and I never quite know how it is going to turn out while I'm building it.  Here she is all finished and styled in my entry way.  Let me just mention here that what you don't see is the other four little tables I have scattered about my entry way and living room waiting to be sold or photographed.  I do have a tiny little problem with separation anxiety when I have to take these to the antique mall or shop I sell at to be sold so sometimes they start to pile up!

Here's a close up of the legs that I made out of railing balusters.

Close up of the twisted moulding I added.

That's all I have for now.  Have a great day!

Vacation

I haven't been able to paint lately because right now my family and I are on vacation!  We are skiing in Big Sky, Montana and having the best time ever!  This is the first time the whole family has gone skiing together and it is PRICELESS.  We've been skiing over the past few years but never all together due to obligations, etc.  Here are a couple photos from our trip so far.

As our children get older I realize there won't be many more moments like this when we can all be together so I treasure every second we have.

I must go and get ready for skiing now.  I hope you all have a wonderful day!

My Newest Venture

So I haven't posted for over a year.  I really need to get better at this blogging stuff.  I've been very busy over the past year with my furniture and creative projects.  My furniture painting has slowly turned into furniture building.  I started running out of things to paint and the pickings at the thrift stores and yard sales were getting slimmer and slimmer due to more people doing what I do.  One day I was looking through blogs and stumbled across Ana White's amazing blog.  Ana is a mom and wife living in Alaska that builds her own furniture and has an awesome blog with free furniture plans on it.  Years ago I had found I really liked building and using tools while doing some small projects around my house and when I stumbled on Ana's blog it just seemed like the natural thing to do.  I started with one of her projects about two months ago and now I'm hooked on building furniture!

My first project from Ana's blog was a flip top console table.  My husband and I followed Ana's instructions and built it in a couple hours.  What a sense of accomplishment!  Here's a photo of it at the store where I consign at, Eco Chic Boutique in Fargo, North Dakota.

When I bring pieces in to consign Eco Chic takes a photo and posts it on their Facebook page.  This time they posted the photo and within an hour someone had called in and bought it over the phone!  Boy was that an ego booster and just the motivation I needed to build some more.

Since this first piece I have been making my own designs using Ana's general building instructions and I'm having so much fun doing it!  Thank you Ana White!
